James Flynn

James Flynn’s teaching career began over 12 years ago at Orville H. Platt High School in Meriden, Connecticut. In 2009, Flynn was recognized with a National Milken Educators Award for his work in Connecticut as a social studies teacher.

 

Flynn is an experienced speaker and has represented Meriden Public Schools by presenting on blended learning and student-centered learning at conferences including the International Society for Technology Education in San Antonio, UCONN’s iPad Summit, Nellie Mae Education Foundation Conferences, the Cas Alliance District Conference, the New England Secondary School Consortium, and Meriden’s Blended Learning Summit.

 

Flynn has also worked with Jobs for the Future to create professional modules on student voice and engagement. For the past two years he served as the Personalized Learning Experience Coordinator at Platt HS, and is now the Social Studies Department Chairperson. Flynn is also the Cross Country coach, a Zoning Board of Appeals member and, most importantly, a proud husband and father of three.
